INITIAL - 16246 - LIQUID SPILL - Berks County, Tilden Township

Incident Summary:

0710 - A motor vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers spilled approximately 75 gallon of diesel fuel at mile marker 29 on Interstate 78 west in Tilden Township, Berks County.. The fuel is contained to the shoulder of the roadway. No waterways or soil were impacted. PennDOT was requested to respond with a sand truck. Exit 30 is closed but exit 29 remained open. There is a backlog back to mile marker 31.5 (two and half miles) at this time. The first tractor trailer was hauling 25,000 Ibs. of bulk paper pulp. The trailer is compromised however the contents are still inside the trailer. The second tractor trailer was empty. There are no unmet needs at this time. A lane restriction was estimated. ~ jjd
